new to linux
Thanks Stuart
more info is needed
how did you download the new firefox?
what type of file did you download (rpm? tar.gz?)
have you been to easy urpmi (http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/) and configured
all the sources for your 'arch' (arch refers to architecture of the
computer, i586 is most pentiums) and version (2006? 2005? community?
official? 10.1) and made sure you had a main, contrib, plf-free and plf
non-free? (that's non-free as in liberty, not non-free as in beer, the
lic. is not GPL, there is no charge)?
after that, installing will be MUCH easier, and all the updated programs
that have been tested will just 'be there' for download.
you should know that at times, MDVsoft will have programs with older
version numbers, but will be as current as the newest version number,
because it has been patched with the same info the higher version number
will have.
