This was posted to cooker today:

See http://www.mandriva.com/en/linux/2007/mandrivalinux2007beta1

Known Issues
----------------------
1. The software installer (rpmdrake) is broken, you must use urpmi and
   the command line to install new packages;

2. A lot of menu entries are not yet displayed because the XDG
   migration is not finished;

3. You may need to deactivate 3D acceleration on some intel based video
   chipset in order for X to work.

4. The konqueror icon on the desktop may not work, but you can launch
   konqueror via the menu.

Main changes
----------------------
New Mirror structure
New network popup notifications
Gnome 2.16 beta 1
Kernel 2.6.17
KDE 3.5.3
Updated wireless application (drakroam)
Switch to XDG menus (in progress)
----------------------

Its a liveCD so you can give it a try 8) or you can wait as Margot
so eloquently put it, "still cooking" ... ;)

Prior to this beta, I installed both the kde and gnome versions in
vmware without a hitch and used urpmi to update it from vmware.

Lesson: after writing down your password, eat your sticky notes
rather than leave them on the monitor 8)
