hello I'm getting random cursor lockups with a Neomagic NM2200 chip (Sony VAIO PCG-F270).
So far I've tried the "fbdev" "neomagic" and "vga" drivers and had the same problem with all of them. I haven't been able to find any mention of this problem with google which makes me think that it could be related to my hardware specifically (faulty perhaps?). All the usual files are attached (XF86Config-4, XFree86.0.log, lspci.txt). The GIMP is unfortunately affected by this, and the cursor almost always locks when I try to drag a layer up or down in the layers dialog. Or drag a color from the toolbox onto an image. Dragging a bookmark in Galeon's bookmark editor does the same thing. Sawfish also seems a bit "sticky". Focus changes are pretty erratic and resizing has to be tried several times to work (especially with A-RMouse+Drag). The C-A-Backspace, and C-A-Fkey switchs work but all the standard keyboard shortcuts (window manager, program shortcuts etc) are locked if the cursor is frozen (after resizing/dragging/{something-cursor-related} with GIMP, Evolution, Nautilus, Konsole etc). So far disabling/enabling the SWcursor does nothing (still locks) and I've tried several different versions of the X server (3.3.4, 3.3.6, 3.3.8, 4.1.0). I haven't had the courage to compile CVS yet. If someone could point me in the right direction as to how to track down this problem I would really appreciate it. /Marlon Sandford -- .--------------------------------------------------------------------. | Marlon Sandford marlon@xealon .net &.com Seattle,WA/London,UK | | Fingerprint: 94BE 8863 2E46 C9BA 65EA E981 BE2E D72A 7364 B2CB | | http://www.debian.org http://www.gnu.org http://www.kernel.org | `--------------------------------------------------------------------'
