Hi to everybody,

I installed XFree86 (Vers. 4.2.0) together with Suse Linux 7.2 on my Laptop
which is a Movita Fuego 215.
I cannot get the xserver to run correctly e.g. I cannot see anything on my
display.

My laptop is equipped with a Silicon-motion Lynx3D graphic adapter (SM820)
on a 14" TFT display.
I generated the config-file with "XFree86 -configure" and had a look at the
resulting file. For my understanding the config-file is ok.
I copied the new configuration-file from my home-directory to /etc/X11,
under the name "XF86Config".
When I start the X-Server with "XFree86 -xf86config /etc/X11/XF86Config" ,
I end up (sometimes) with a total black screen ;
in the background something is still working (indicated by disk-access) but
the key's CNTRL-ALT-BS or CNTRL-ALT-+ or CNTRL-ALT-"-"
do not work. I have to switch-off the Laptop !
Switching from internal- to external monitor, an back again to internal (via
hotkey), as advised in some FAQ's, does not solve the problem. s
Also switching to a console with CNTRL-ALT-F2 and back to graphic with
ALT-F7 does not work.

Sometimes I get a "gray"-background (like a checkerboard) and a BIG
block-mouse-cursor (aprox. 1 X 1 cm !). When I move the mouse something
happens, but after a few moves the display changes to total black an I have
to switch off the laptop. The same behavior happens, when I use an external
standard CRT monitor.

I played around with some Silicon-Motion Option-switches like : Option
"NoAccel" "True" and Option "UseBIOS" "True" , but with no progress.

I attached the XF86Config- and XFree86.log files to the e-mail.

Who can help me please !!??

bets regards
Don Schultz
