There is something bad in Matrox own drivers. Dissable hardware acceleration and the video corruption should be gone (did for me). Or if you need acceleration, download the DRI CVS tree of X and build it. The tree is a mess, and the only way I got it to build was to get a complete CVS checkout of X, _and_ a complete checkout of DRI tree, and then merge them.
