Hello James, The first message is telling you that your font server (xfs) is either not running or not listening on port 7100 (information courtesy of Dr. Andrew C. Aitchison http://www.xfree86.org/pipermail/xpert/2001-October/011795.html :-) The second message is from Blackbox, not 'X'.
