Here's a question about linking names in ebase to people who personally know
the contacts. I've asked around a little about this, but I'm wondering
whether people have tried different options and have suggestions about the
best way to do this.
We are asking our board and staff to identify people on our list that they
know, and also to give us the names of new prospects. Now we want to put
something in the database so that the names on the database are linked to
their contact on the board on staff. We will use this info to personalize
letters, notes, etc... Ideally, we would be able to print out a list of
"John's contacts" or "Amy's contacts" The options I am aware of are:
1. Add a memo in the memo field with the contact names (but may be more
difficult to generate lists).
2. Use the notes function to generate lists of people that should be
contacted (But this seems less permanent...harder to generate a list of "Who
at our organization knows Joe Smith"
3. Create a new field with a pop-up memo for "Primary Organizational
Contact"
What do you suggest. What else is possible. I'm concerned that if I add a
new pop up menu then I will also have to design a new format for generating
the lists. Did the e-base designers have a preffered way to accomplish this
task.
Thank you.
