I was just playing with the upgrade procedure for moving from 1.00 to 1.02 described in the 1.02 manual dated 5/12/00. I am working on a Mac (home office) trying to upgrade a copy of our office database created on a PC. Also, I'm using the version of ebase 1.02 supplied with the CD. I'm encountering several problems. The Prep_.100 (whose actual name is Prep100_.102) doesn't function as suggested in the manual, making it difficult to follow the "recipe." In particular, it requires the password "master" and not "prep," it doesn't open the ebase files automatically, doesn't provide a print dialog box to print the record number report, etc. In addition, there is no Upgrade_.100 (nor an Upgrade100_.102) file for the upgrade procedure. Can anyone explain what's going on here? Is anything missing from the CD version? Would it make more sense just to import the data from the old files into the new database, being careful with field mapping? If so, is there anything I need to be extra careful about? (I understand the basics of importing though have only done it for names data). Carl New Hampshire Rivers Council
