What you do is select the people who came and omit the people who are 
members. You do this at the same time by:
Go to Find mode.
Select the event in your new field
Add  New Request (Ctrl-N while in find mode - do not perform the find first).
Check the rolodex at the top left to be sure you have 2 requests, and 
are on the second one
Enter a * in the member status, and click the Omit box on the left.
perform the find by clicking the find button on the left, or tapping 
the Enter key
