Funny you asked that. I literally jsut got through setting it up correctly
on my computer. I got this off the website, and it worked. So I'll pass it
along.
First, to fix the envelope layout, you must have FileMaker Pro version 4.0
or later to Open ebase and use the "master" level access password to enter
ebase. Then do the following:
The envelope layout must be set up for #10 envelopes. The layout is in the
NAMES_ file and is named "Envelope Portrait". To set it up for #10
envelopes, get into layout mode (click on Mode -> Layout) and navigate to
this layout (by clicking on the "layout" button above the book icon). From
the menu, select File -> Print Setup (on the Mac, it's File -> Page Setup).
Choose #10 envelope as the type of paper, and select the Portrait
orientation (for envelopes that feed vertically). Click OK.
Next, click once on the Body tab. Drag the tab downward so that the body is
just contained within one page. An easy way to do this is to drag it down
and drop it until you see the broken line that indicates you've crossed a
page boundary. Then move the Body tab up enough so that you've crossed back
over the boundary onto the first page and the page boundary line is gone.
For envelopes that feed vertically, the text block must be rotated
accordingly. To do this, click once on the text. "Handles" will appear
around the text indicating that it has been selected. From the menu, select
Arrange -> Rotate until the text is oriented correctly. You may have to use
the Copy and Paste commands to make sure that the text appears in the left
rectangular area of the screen. You may also have to reposition the text so
that it will print on the appropriate place on the envelope. Use Preview
Mode (click on Mode -> Preview) to see how things look. You may also want to
use the ZOOM controls (the bottom left 3 buttons on your screen on lower
scroll bar) and zoom to 50% so you can get an overall view of the placement
of your text.
The scripts named "918a - Print Found Portrait Std" and "918d - Print
Current Portrait Std" must both be modified. They currently restore the
printer settings that were in effect when this script was originally written
and do not allow the user to modify the settings for the current print job.
To get to each script, click on Script -> Scriptmaker. Then double click on
the appropriate script and click the button called EDIT. In each script is a
line that says "Print Setup [Restore, No Dialog]" (or "Page Setup [Restore,
No Dialog]" on the Mac). You can change the setting for No Dialog by
clicking once on the appropriate line in the script. Then deselect the radio
button called "Perform Without Dialog". Click OK. Click OK again, then click
DONE. You will have to do this for both scripts (918a and 918d) mentioned
above. These lines must be changed to allow user dialog; this way, the user
can change the print settings to #10 Envelopes when printing envelopes, but
leave them as they are for printing reports.
