Andy - regretfully I cannot get to your meeting on Wednesday evening as I live
too far away (Nottingham) and am too old at 74 to make the journey at night.
I really need some tuition to get JOSM working for me.
I have finally worked out how to use it to download information to transfer to
my Garmin Legend HCx but totally failed to work out how to use it for editing
and uploading.
I thought I had the answer when I found the starter tutorial at
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Starter_Tutorial but I fell at the
second instruction:
a.. From the menu »File« choose »Open« and load the track from your local hard
drive
a.. From the menu »Connection« choose »Get from OSM«
because there was no 'Connections' item on the menu.
Could you possibly find time to edit this tutorial or create another to make it
jargon free and intelligible to folk like me who know nothing about Java and
rely on the GUI facilities to make things work?
Fortunately Potlatch has made it possible for me to upload my tracks
successfully but we are told JOSM is the better way to go and I would like to
get to grips with it.
I hope you get a good turnout on Wednesday evening - I will be with you in
spirit!
Regards
Tony Grimley

  Subject: [OSM-newbies] Potlatch/JOSM workshop Wed 19th March

  Potlatch/JOSM workshop. 20:00 - Wed 19th March - Sutton Coldfield

I will be hosting a one hour workshop for those that could use some help
with editing using Potlatch and JOSM. Richard Fairhurst will cover Potlatch
and I will cover separately JOSM. Bring your laptop if you have one.

It's aimed at newbie's and those who have yet to get to grips fully with
editing OSM data. It's so easy once you know how and we will have you hooked
  in no time ;-)

Plan to adjourn to the pub for a pint afterwards.

19:30 for a 20:00 start - For more info and details contact me.

Other details on the wiki at:
  http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/OSM_Midlands%2C_UK_User_Group

  Cheers

  Andy
