I just upgraded to a legend HCx, and I think it's worth every
penny^H^H^H^H^Heuro.

It all depends on what you're trying to do: if you're planning to hold mapping
sessions (or do trips) longer than 3 hours, definitively go for a model with
a SD card or similar (that means Navi, eTrex -x, magellan explorist 200+,
check the reviews page).

If you want to brag about how good OSM maps are (which is my case), go for a
model with color display and the ability of showing OSM maps. Medium- and
high-end garmins do it; I'm not sure about the magellans.

If you carry a high-end phone (SD card plus bluetooth), go for a bluetooth GPS
receiver.

If all you need is something for brief mapping sessions and geotagging photos,
go for one of the cheaper no-screen data loggers.

IMHO, it all depends on how addicted you are to OSM - as you progress in the
inevitable spiral of OSM addiction, you'll find yourself needing better (and
more expensive) hardware.

Cheers,
