I have heard that moving rapidly with a GPS allows it to get a better fix on the signals from the GPS satellites because it reduces the effect of echoes and reflections of those signals caused by surrounding buildings and other structures. I can't find any authoritative statements of that claim, though, so take it with a grain of salt. I have, however, noticed the same effects. My GPS seems most accurate when placed just under my car's windshield and when I'm traveling 40-50 mph or more. -- ...computer contrarian of the first order... / http://aperiodic.net/phil/ PGP: 026A27F2 print: D200 5BDB FC4B B24A 9248 9F7A 4322 2D22 026A 27F2 --- -- Hmm...how do we know you are the REAL Angel of Death? -- Famous Last Words, #915 ---- --- -- _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/newbies
