1. I am under the impression that Red Hat 8.0 doesn't come with the gcc296,
g++296 compilers. I'm in 345 right now and we are using QT which needs the
g++296 compiler, but it gives me the error that it doesn't know what "g++296" is
when I compile on my machine. I tried looking for it online, but without
success. Can I just download it somewhere? if not...

2. I am also in 455 so I also need to use openGL. It says that 8.0 comes with
the GLUT library installed, but when I try and compile with
#include <GL/glut.h>
OR
#include <GL/glut>
I get the error that it couldn't find it, so of course nothing else works
either. I tried downloading an RPM for GLUT for 8.0 and I installed it, but it
didn't change anything. This used to work for me when I had 7.3, so perhaps its
just the new compiler again?

3. Both of these problems could be solved by my putting Red Hat 7.3 back on my
system, but for some reason, it won't recognize my mouse. This is the weird
part - I HAD 7.3 on this computer and was using this mouse before, and all was
fine. I had to tell it that it was the "Logitech MouseMan Wheel (USB)", but
after I did, it was OK. Now it won't recognize it at all. The light (it's
optical) doesn't even come on. I've tried other options like "Generic 2 button"
"Generic 3 button" "Microsoft Intellimouse", etc. I've also tried plugging it
into the PS/2 (it's USB, but has an adapter) port. When I did that, the light
would come on in the mouse, but I still couldn't get it to move around at all.
I even tried using a different mouse (IBM), but it wouldn't recongize that
either.

In summary: It works with 8.0
It used to work with 7.3
It won't recognize a thing now
ANY IDEAS WHY?

4. Assuming I do get it to recognize the mouse again, I will need to partition
my drive to put both 7.3 and 8.0 on (I like 8.0 and don't want to get rid of it,
I just want both) but I don't know how. This is actually what I came to the
installfest to do, but we ran out of time and I couldn't do both, I could only
upgrade what I had. Once I enter the disk partitioning program that comes with
the installer, what settings should I use if I want to keep the 40 GB partition
I have, allocate another 30GB for 7.3, and be able to boot to either one either
through GRUB or seperate disks (Remember - because of my RAID, I have to use a
boot disk to boot Linux. I don't care if I have to use 2 seperate floppies (1
for 8.0, one for 7.3) or if I use one floppy that will take me to GRUB to choose
which version, but I don't know how that will work.)

5. (LASTLY) Tyler took my home directory and put it on to some other partition,
and then deleted the original partition (it was taking up the entire drive and
couldn't be split). He said we could mount that other partition and then copy
it over, but I don't know how to do that at all. How would I go about looking
to see what to mount?
