I have an IBM laptop (TP 600) dual booting just fine. I used Mandrake, and almost everything "Just Worked" (TM). Not quite everything... the sound card took a little tweaking, and the modem is a winmodem (normally a bad thing for linux-- watch out for these) although IBM released some modem drivers for linux so you'd be OK if you went with them.

I have heard that some laptops have a hard time with putting a dual-boot with linux and Windows on it. Does anybody know any laptops that do this well? Are there any that I should look out for that might be bad?
thanks!
