For my previous problem (errors in partition I'm trying to install to), I see
that fsck is supposed to try to repair errors.

My question is whether I should use it and how to go about doing so:

I can use the Linux Rescue to get in to my current (messed up) installation that
I'm trying to replace, and run fsck there. However, I get a warning that this
could (and in my case probably will) cause "SEVERE filesystem damage", as it is
the partition currently mounted (but if I'm re-installing later, do I care?).

Another idea was to see if I could do it with my old Knoppix CD. That way, my
partition wouldn't be mounted (I think), and so I wouldn't have to worry about
killing whatever is currently on it.

What do you suggest I do?
