That's a question I've heard a lot (and asked a lot). The main thing I've done to learn is just to tinker around. Try to set up a webserver on your system, or learn a new language (like php, perl, shell scripting), or master the command line (with sed, grep, awk). It becomes a chain where the more you learn, the more you realize you don't know anything. :-) Here are a few pages: http://docs.cs.byu.edu http://www.tldp.org/docs.html http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/Bash-Prompt-HOWTO/ > Also does anyone have any recommendations on a good Windows emulator? > I have XP on my machine too, but I just got an old game that won't run > on Windows 2000 or XP. Does anyone know of a Windows emulator for Linux > that supports older programs? Wine works pretty well for single apps. Bochs can emulate the whole Intel architecture (like VMware but it's not as fast; bochs is free but you'll still need a copy of windows to install on it). You might want to look into dosemu. > Lastly, when I boot up Linux, I get a "failed" message when it tries > to find my shared FAT32 partition. Any ideas on how to fix it? Can you tell us what is in your /etc/fstab file? -Evan -- /********************************************************************\ Evan McNabb: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://evan.mcnabbs.org System Administrator, CS Department, BYU GnuPG Fingerprint: 53B5 EDCA 5543 A27A E0E1 2B2F 6776 8F9C 6A35 6EA5 \********************************************************************/
