I've seen this happen before, when I was trying to figure out which sound module to use for my machine and accidentally modprobed it twice. It also happened occasionally as I was trying to get it loaded automatically in /etc/modules.conf. CD audio usually doesn't go through the sound driver, so it's not affected, but other applications (typically games, like frozen-bubble) (awesome game, by the way) will also play half-speed.

Unfortunately I don't have a solution, exactly, other than just make sure modules.conf has the right drivers and parameters in it. Google should help there, but if not, at least you know you're not alone...

Hi,

I have a problem playing mp3 files using XMMS. It runs
half speed. Although I change the configuration of
libmpg123.so by lowering resolution and down sample.

I use RH.9, soundcard ess1869.There is no problem
playing CD audio. Please help...

Thanks in advance.
