The nVidia installer is a point of some controversy. As an alternative, livna has RPMs of nvidia's driver. I've had some annoying experiences with nvidia's installer, so livna is my preference. But like I said, it's controversial, so I won't try to tell you one of the other is "best". Are you certain that savage/ix drivers are available for Linux? You might be out of luck.
