Do you have a knoppix cd?  * (see bottom)
If not, get one (I have one that you can use...  email off-list to get it)...
Boot into knoppix, open a terminal, and if you're not root, type su,
and give a blank password to get root.

run 'fdisk /dev/hda'
type 'p' to get a print-out of your partitions.  figure out which one
is the linux one that you normally boot into.  Under the 'device'
column, it will say '/dev/hda#' where # is either 1,2,3 or 4
type 'a'
tell it the number that was in the device for the linux drive.  
type 'w'
reboot, and it should all work...
