What can you tell me about the hang-ups? What programs are you running when it hangs? Does it completely stop responding, or can you still use the mouse/keyboard? If you hit ctrl-alt-F1, does it take you to a console (black screen, white text)? If so, are there any errors listed there? If you hit ctrl-alt-backspace, does anything happen? If there's any other information you can give us, it'd make it easier to figure out what's going on.
