I would like to know the memory usage of my computer.
I am not able to decipher the /top/ command:

**

top - 20:19:14 up 89 days, 2:15, 5 users, load average: 0.11, 0.08, 0.05
Tasks: 116 total, 1 running, 115 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 8.8% us, 0.8% sy, 0.2% ni, 90.2% id, 0.0% wa, 0.0% hi, 0.0% si
*Mem: 2593592k total, 1932912k used, 660680k free, 17956k buffers*

Does this mean that I am using 1.9 GB out of 2.5 GB?

This is very surprising because my system is almost idle.

On the other hand, System Monitor said that I am using only 478 MiB of 2.5 MiB

Why the /top/ command doesn't match the System Monitor? What is the/ i /of MiB?

Thanks
