RUSH: Now, while I was gone, ladies and gentlemen, a couple interesting things
happened.  The Washington Times reporting on Sunday that The Messiah, the Lord
Barack Obama, the Most Merciful, was in St. Louis, when he was outlining his
Christianity, but accidentally said "my Muslim faith."  "The three words,
immediately corrected, were during an exchange with George Stephanopoulos."  We
probably have it here in the sound bite roster.  We've got it. It's cut ten
here.  Let's listen.  Let me find it so I can read along here on the sheet.
Okay.  Question from Stephanopoulos: "The McCain campaign has never suggested
that you have Muslim connections.  McCain said that that's wrong."

OBAMA: No, uh, well, uh, well, look, the -- the, uhhhh. Listen, uhhh, you and I
both know that the minute that Governor Palin was, uh -- was, uh, forced to
talk about her daughter, I immediately said, "That's off-limits.  And -- and --
and -- and --

STEPHANOPOULOS:  John McCain did the same thing about questioning your faith.

OBAMA:  And what -- what was the first thing the McCain campaign went out and
did?  They -- they said, uhhh, look, uhhh, his liberal blogs that support Obama
(nervous laugh) are out there attacking Governor Palin.  I mea- ih, uh, uh, eh,
L-l-let's not play games.  W-w-what I was suggesting, you are absolutely right
that John McCain has not, uh, talked about my Muslim faith, and you're
absolutely right that that has not come --

STEPHANOPOULOS:  Christian faith.

OBAMA:  Uh, M-my Christian faith.

RUSH:  Now, you know, slip of the tongue, Barry Obama, president.  However,
something more hilarious than even that.  Steve Gilbert at Sweetness-Light.com
yesterday sent out a story: "Moammar Khadafy says Barack Obama is a Muslim,"
and there's video of this.  I can't listen to video on computers because I
can't hear it, but fortunately there's a transcript here.  These are excerpts
of a public address delivered by Libyan strongman Moammar Khadafy, marking the
anniversary of the US air raid on Libya.  This is from June 11th of this year.

"It has been proven that there is no democracy in [the US]. Rather, it is a
dictatorship no different than the dictatorships of Hitler, Napoleon,
Mussolini, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, and the rest of the tyrants. In
the days of crazy Reagan, the American president issued a presidential order to
launch a war against Libya, for example, a presidential order to besiege Libya,
a presidential order to boycott Libya, and so on. Is this a democracy or a
dictatorship? …  There are elections in America now." This is Khadafy, still
speaking.  "Along came a black citizen of Kenyan African origins, a Muslim, who
had studied in an Islamic school in Indonesia. His name is Obama. All the
people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man.

"They welcomed him and prayed for him and for his success, and they may have
even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns to enable him to win
the American presidency. But we were taken by surprise when our African Kenyan
brother, who is an American national, made statements that shocked all his
supporters in the Arab world, in Africa, and in the Islamic world. We hope that
this is merely an elections 'clearance sale,' as they say in Egypt -- in other
words, merely an elections lie. As you know, this is the farce of elections --
a person lies and lies to people, just so that they will vote for him, and
afterwards, when they say to him: 'You promised this and that,' he says: 'No,
this was just elections propaganda.'

"This is the farce of democracy for you. He says: 'This was propaganda, and you
thought I was being serious. I was fooling you to get your votes' Allah
willing, it will turn out that this was merely elections propaganda. Obama said
he would turn Jerusalem into the eternal capital of the Israelis. This
indicates that our brother Obama is ignorant of international politics, and is
not familiar with the Middle East conflict."  I am suppressing an
allergy-related sneeze, ladies and gentlemen.  So Obama now has Moammar Khadafy
out there saying, "Yeah, he's a Muslim, a black brother with origins of Kenya
and so forth, lying about Jerusalem."

Toward the end of his remarks, Khadafy said, "The thing we fear most is that
the black man suffers from an inferiority complex. This is dangerous. If our
brother Obama feels that because he is black he doesn't have the right to rule
America, this would be a disaster, because such a feeling would make him behave
whiter than the white, and go to an extreme in his persecution and degradation
of the blacks. ... We still hope that this black man will take pride in his
African and Islamic identity, and in his faith, and that [he will know] that he
has rights in America, and that he will change America from evil to good, and
that America will establish relations that will serve it well with other
peoples, especially the Arabs."

Moammar Khadafy.  You know, if I were Obama, I'd get hold of these blogs. I'd
call up all these people like Khadafy.  I'd call every one of my supporters and
say, "Would you shut up until after the election?  I don't need this kind of
stuff!" Not just the Khadafies of the world, the Jeremiah Wrights, his kook
fringe blog people. His biggest problem (aside from himself) is his supporters,
who they are and what they say, but I don't think it bothers him.  It's like
the Democrats weren't bothered when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad basically used their
campaign talking points about Bush.  They weren't bothered when what's his
name, Bin Laden, would put out a tape that repeated Democrat Harry Reid, Pelosi
talking points. (laughing) They weren't embarrassed by this.  One more audio
sound bite from Obama.  I made mention of the fact in the last hour, this guy
says he's for charter schools now. TIME Magazine has it: "Obama to Embrace
Charter Schools."  What is
this, Obama moving to the right?  This is Republican stuff.  I guess this
Republican stuff sells pretty well, doesn't it?  It says right here in TIME
Magazine: normally charter schools are more popular with Republicans than with
Democrats.  And Khadafy is right.  He doesn't mean this. He's not going to
throw the teachers unions under the bus.  He's just saying this stuff 'cause he
knows he's in trouble, just like he says he's going to "delay" tax increases on
the rich until after the election is over.  Well, it's a tantamount admission
that tax increases will slow down the economy! He's just saying this stuff
'cause he has to.  And then he said this.  Stephanopoulos says, "You know, one
of our viewers wrote in and asked, 'Did you ever consider joining the Armed
Forces to protect and serve our country, and if not, why?'"

OBAMA:  You know, I actually did. Uhhh...

STEPHANOPOULOS:  When?

OBAMA:  Eh, uh, well, you know, I had to sign up for Selective Service when I
graduated from high school, and I was growing up in Hawaii, and I had, uhhh,
friends who -- whose parents were in the military. There are a lot of army base
-- military bases there, uh, and I all -- actually always thought, uh, of the
military as some, uhh, -- an ennobling, uhh, and -- and, you know, honorable
option.  Uh, but keep in mind, wha-- I graduated 1979.  Uh, the Vietnam War had
come to an end.  Uh, we weren't engaged, uh, in an active, uh, uh, military
conflict at that point.

RUSH: Uhh. Uhhhhh. Uh.

OBAMA: And so it's not an option that I ever decided to pursue.

RUSH:  Now... (laughing) Yeah, since there was no war, he wasn't going to
join.  He only thought it would be noble and ennobling if there was a war going
on.  Since there wasn't a war going on, there was nothing ennobling about the
military. Now, who's going to buy this crock?  What kind of idiots does he
think we are?  But once again, he's moving right. He says all these things.
This is like Hillary.  "Yeah, I walked in there. I tried to join the Marines,
but they didn't want me. They told me to go to the dogs," which is the Army.
Of course, I can understand how she could misunderstand.

RUSH:  By the way, a couple things here about Obama.  He said he graduated in
1979 and there wasn't really anything going on in 1979, the Vietnam War was
over so there was no reason to be noble and join the ennobling profession of
the military, but in 1979, ladies and gentlemen, US hostages were being held at
the US embassy in Tehran by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and Jimmy Carter,
the president emeritus of the Democrat Party, planning a bunch of secret rescue
missions that of course failed miserably.  So there was something going on in
1979.  It just didn't strike Obama's fancy.  And, by the way, about Khadafy
praising our black Kenyan American with Muslim roots and so forth, I'm reminded
by my friend Andy McCarthy at National Review that it was Obama himself who
started this Hussein business.  Bret Stephens actually had it in a Wall Street
Journal column yesterday.  Who said this?  "Well, I think if you've got a guy
named Barack Hussein
Obama, that's a pretty good contrast to George W. Bush."  Who said that?
Moammar Khadafy, uh, Ayman al-Zawahiri, or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?  Answer, none
of the above.  "Well, I think if you've got a guy named Barack Hussein Obama,
that's a pretty good contrast to George W. Bush."  That was stated by Barack
Obama.

"Sometime before Barack Obama's middle name slipped into the realm of the
unmentionable, it was supposed to be a selling point of his candidacy. 'Well, I
think if you've got a guy named Barack Hussein Obama, that's a pretty good
contrast to George W. Bush,' Mr. Obama told PBS's Tavis Smiley on October 18,
2007. 'If you believe that we've got to heal America and we've got to repair
our standing in the world, then I think my supporters believe that I am the
messenger who can deliver that message.'"  So he thought back on PBS in October
of last year that his middle name would be a great symbol to repair our
standing in the world.  This was a nod and a wink to the Muslims; I mean let's
not couch it for anything other than that.  Now he doesn't like it.  Now we
can't say Barack Hussein Obama without people having a conniption fit.  But it
was Barry who started it.
