NATO TROOPS WILL NOT ENTER MACEDONIA UNTIL ALBANIANS SIGN DISARMAMENT
AGREEMENT

According to the report of the RIA Novosti correspondent, chairman of
the NATO military committee and Italian admiral Guido Venturoni who is
staying in Kosovo stated that NATO would postpone the scheduled mission
to disarm Albanian extremists in Macedonia till implementation of terms
and conditions introduced by the North Atlantic Alliance.
He indicated that the Alliance undertook to carry out its mission to
support political settlement only after reaching an agreement regarding
reliable ceasefire and signing a disarmament agreement by the National
Liberation Army. Venturoni stressed that until these conditions were
met, NATO would not start its mission.
On Thursday the chairman of the NATO military committee had a meeting in
Pristine with Norwegian General Torsten Skiaker, commander of the
international peace-keeping forces, as well as with commander of the
Kosovo defense corps Agim Ceku. According to reports from Pristine, the
parties considered further NATO support of that corps.
