From Kosovo to Kabul, Again.
Once more , it is timely to reflect on the analogies and differences
between Kosovo and Kabul.
During Nato's war against Yugoslavia we were
being told with nauseating repetition that the flight of 800,000
Kosovo Albanians was prompted by Serb-organized ethnic cleansing. Thus,
during the 78-days of bombardment, the Albanians were not fleeing
because of the cluster bombs but because of Milosevic's soldiers and
paramilitary. Yet, curiously, prior to the Nato aggression, these very
same Albanians were wisely remaining in their homes just as their leader
Rugova and his family stayed in their luxurious abode in Pristina.
Coincidentally, from September 11th onward, millions of Afgan poor
wretches are emulating Albanians and attempting to escape from their
country. The question arises, why? Why, when there is not one single
Serb in their country and Milosevic is rotting in his cell at The Hague
under benevolent protection of Ms Del Ponte who is racking her brain to
find new antidated sins to attribute to him?
Why? if not because, since the war in Kosovo, the Afgans know that
humanitarian bombings also kill humans.
