AFP. 29 August 2002. Milosevic blasts court for putting "terrorists" on
the stand.

THE HAGUE -- Former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic on Thursday
blasted the UN war crimes tribunal for putting "only criminals and
terrorists" in the witness stand after the summer break in the case.

"From the end of summer recess you bring only criminals and terrorists
to the witness box. It is a disgrace to Western justice," Milosevic told
presiding judge Richard May.

Milosevic was cross-examining a former commander of the Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) who was an inmate at Dubrava prison in May 1999.
Serbian forces are accused of killing more than 50 detainees in Dubrava
after NATO raids in May 1999.

Milosevic claims the deaths were caused by NATO bombs, and not by Serb
forces.

On Thursday witness Milaim Cekaj and Milosevic got into several
arguments in court, prompting rebukes from the judge. "Both of you
remember you are in a courtroom," judge May admonished.

On Thursday a survivor from a convoy of Kosovo Albanians hit by NATO
bombs in April 1999 also took the stand.

Some 75 people were killed and over 100 were wounded in the bombing
which NATO has admitted was a mistake.
