Media coverage of Kosovo issue misleading: Russia's envoy to UN

Some recent reports in the media about the issue of Kosovo have been
misleading. That's according to Russia's ambassador to the United Nations
Vitaly Churkin who held a news-conference on Monday.

Vitaly Churkin dismissed the media reports saying that the UN Security
Council would refuse to take a resolution on Kosovo and give this issue to
the European Union in January. Churkin also added that next month a new
report on Kosovo will be submitted to the UN Security Council.

Russia's ambassador to the UN also stressed everything should be made in
line with the international law.

"When our colleagues from the European Union are talking about their
intention to deploy a European Union mission in Kosovo, they need to get the
clearance from the Security Council, if they don't then they will be outside
the scope of international law," Churkin said.

Churkin's senior diplomatic status and vast former Yugoslav experience
indicates a solid Russian resolve for rejecting misguided solutions in
relation to Kosovo. Russian foreign policy continues to compliment
Amelrica's best interests in the Balkans. Churkin's recent comments are in
sync with what was written this past March:
