Lajcak: international law violated in case of Kosovo

When Kosovo's independence was unilaterally declared, the norms of
international law were violated, because it is a violation of the principle
that the separation of its territory should be agree upon by a state
concerned, Slovakian Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak said in Moscow.

While addressing students of the Moscow State School for International
Relations (MGIMO), he pointed out that the right to self-determination belongs
to peoples, not to minorities.

Recalling that Slovakia has not recognized Kosovo's independence, Lajcak said
that Bratislava still holds the position that in resolving the Kosovo status
the principle was violated by which the separation of its territory should be
agreed upon by a state concerned, which is Serbia in this situation, as it was
the case with the separation of Montenegro, the Itar-Tass reports.
