Macedonian police attacked near border with Kosovo
Three Macedonian border police officers were attacked with automatic weapons
while conducting a routine patrol along the border with Kosovo late on
Friday.
The attack left no injuries among the police officers.
Macedonian interior ministry's spokesman Ivo Kotevski told Makfax news
agency that the attack happened last night at around 22:35 hrs, when a
border police vehicle was shot at. Three ethnically mixed police officers
were onboard the vehicle at the time of the attack.
The attack, which caused extensive damage to the vehicle, took place near
Belanovce in the municipality of Lipkovo, some 1.5 kilometers from the
border with Kosovo.
So far, there have been no reports as to the number of assailants and the
motive of the attack against Macedonia's police.
A thorough investigation into the incident is ongoing.
