PRIŠTINA -- EULEX has remanded former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) commander
Sabit Geci into custody for a 30 day period. He is suspected of war crimes
committed in 1999.

Geci was interrogated at the Kosovska Mitrovica District Court for four hours,
his attorney Mahmut Halimi said.

Halimi said that the investigative judge denied his recommendation for putting
Geci under house arrest, claiming that this would offer Geci the possibility to
influence potential witnesses.

Halimi said that his client denied all the allegations.

Geci is suspected of committing war crimes during the 1999 NATO intervention.
Halimi said that Geci had nothing to do with the removal and sale of human
organs in the case of the so-called “yellow house” in northern Albania.

Serbian War Crimes Prosecution Deputy Prosecutor Bruno Vekarić said that the
Serbian prosecution suspects Geci in the “yellow house” case and in other war
crimes committed in the region of Drenice.

Geci was arrested on Thursday in Priština on the order of the Kosovo special
prosecutor’s office.

He is suspected of involvement in war crimes committed in between April and
June 1999, according to a statement from EULEX.
