Kosovo on Friday gave a 20-year concession contract to a French-Turkish
consortium to run the country's only airport, DPA <http://www.dpa.com>
reported.

The Limak-Aeroport de Lyon consortium won a 100-million-euro (127 million
dollars) bid. The consortium will modernize the Pristina airport and build a
new terminal there.

"The investment in the Pristina International Airport is very important for
Kosovo's infrastructure," Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci told reporters.

"The consortium will invest in the airport, while the citizens and the
passengers will benefit from a new terminal," he added.

The consortium offered 39.42 per cent of gross revenues in exchange for the
contract. It beat out two competitors: the German- Turkish group Fraport-ICTAS
and an international consortium, Bouygues-Batimes-Egis-PAIC.

Pristina airport makes an annual profit of about 14 million dollars and handles
some 1.2 million passengers each year.
