One person killed and 11 injured in an explosion in Kosovska Mitrovica July 02, 2010 Pediatrician Mesud Dzekovic died of injuries sustained in an explosion in Bosnjacka Mahala, northern Kosovka Mitrovica, and another 11 persons have been injured. The explosion went off around 10am, while hundreds of Serbs rallied in peaceful protest against the intention of Kosovo authorities to open an office for issue of personal documents. The police do not know who activated the explosive device. The situation is tense and the town is overflown by KFOR helicopters. KFOR and KPS members have been stationes in the bridge dividing the northern and southern part of the town. Bosnjacka Mahala is one of several multiethnic districts in northern Kosovka Mitrovica inhabited by Serbs and Albanians.
