Action Alert 2001: #88

(WASHINGTON, DC – 11/13/01) E-mails from across the country have alerted us that
Post Offices are displaying posters promoting sales of holiday
stamps for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa that conspicuously do not include the Eid
stamp, which was unveiled one year ago and was made available for sale on September 1,
2001!

ASK THAT THE EID STAMP BE INCLUDED IN THIS POSTER
        OR
THAT THE POSTER BE REMOVED.

The American Muslim Council calls on all Americans to ask for the Eid Stamp at their
local post office. If it’s not there, please notify us immediately.

Buy it online at www.usps.com or order it toll free at 1-800-STAMP-24.

U. S. stamps are a time-honored symbol of American life. The Eid stamp is especially
dear to all American Muslims as a commemoration of the two most important Islamic
festivals in the Islamic calendar: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Please use Eid stamps
for all your mailing needs in the holiday season. Encourage your family and friends to
do the same. The U.S. Postal Service reports that if a new stamp is re-issued three
times, it will then become a permanent part of the United States Holiday Collection.
