Southwest, American lean on premium seating with end-of-year push underway

 


Executives for North Texas’ two major airlines are optimistic that they can 
grow their companies by investing in premium product offerings, which they 
echoed during a review of third-quarter financial results Thursday morning. 
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines and Fort Worth-based American Airlines reported 
record third-quarter revenue of $6.9 and $13.7 billion, respectively. Southwest 
reported a profit with a net income of $54 million, but that was a was down 
from $67 million from a year ago.
