* Planning Commission Meeting on Wednesday, May 10th @ 5:30pm!
Why do we mention this?  Well, there's a very hot item at the end of that meeting.

It's a Public Hearing on redefining the city's legal definition of "family" for zoning purposes
as recommended by some on the city council.

I agree that it should be tightened to only include immediate family but at the same time I think
they should also consider adding a definition for "extended family".
They should NOT discriminate as we're all part of the human family -- one big family --
no matter what our ancestral lineage or marital status or familial status is!

Councilman Steve Turley said that some of their actions are taking the "3 to 2" singles fight down to "2 to 0".
That may be slightly exaggerated but there's definitely truth in that statement, no doubt about it!!
There should be NO discrimination, either directly or in effect, against singles or against those
that currently do not have the blessings of owning property.

I sincerely call on the the city council to take the lead in healing the bad feelings between singles
and a minority of married adults in this town.
It's not imagined -- it's real and the current zoning laws are
one of the major points of contention between the majority of adults and between the minority that are married.

The current laws are flat-out in effect discriminatory and in effect segregatory.
I'll give you more cold hard facts with a plethora of evidences very soon.  I do not make such claims lightly.  We've been
researching this for a very long time.  We've held back for a few years on this because we've believed that
we should try to make peace on this and be reconciliatory on this instead of being adversarial through the courts, which
is justified by the way, but I'd rather avoid that route completely as it's prone to stirring up contention.

I strongly believe that the vast majority of the hearts of the people of this good city are with us or will stand with us
very soon on this issue.  We believe that fairness and equality for all will prevail in due time.

So stay tuned because you know we'll keep you informed as we have since 2002 on this issue! :)
