I'm guessing that most of you are on the email list to receive automatic notices of any city council meetings so this is just a reminder --

Tonight, City Council Meeting @ 7:00pm.

* Public Hearing on whether to give Broadweave a temporary reduction for 18 months on their loan payments for iProvo. Specifically the public hearing is on whether to transfer $820,000 from the Energy Fund over to the Telecomm fund to cover the next 18 months. I generally support this. The city is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Letting Broadweave fail is the much worse of two bad choices in my opinion. I think Broadweave with Veracity will succeed but they need this temporary reduction on the loan payments to grow and do the merger. (NOTE: I'm a contractor for Broadweave -- for the last 11 months. I'm looking forward to working for them for at least the next year. The service is excellent -- better than the competition and i've been using the net since 1994 for school, play, and work.)

* Public Hearing on whether to pass a law allowing Provo Utilities to do "Net Metering" for customers -- this means that you can get paid if you generate more electricity than what you need via solar, wind, etc. Provo Utilities would have to buy it back. I don't know any details on this locally -- I just know a little about the general practice of "net metering". Call the city if you want the details.
:)

* Public Hearings on some Land Use issues with rezoning, etc.

* Public Hearings on whether or not to sell some city surplus property.

For the full details, please see the Agenda below.

Hope to see some of you there,

P.S. If you want to be informed always by either the Thursday or the Monday before the city council's Tuesday (twice a month) meetings, then sign up @ http://www.utah.gov/pmn/detail/publicbody/1600.html -- Click on "Email Subscription". I highly recommend it!! :)

Have a good last day o' summer!! :)

P.P.S. I almost forgot (my schedule is crazy busy right now with both work and school) -- Due to there being only about a week and a half left to register to vote -- ProvoCitizens is having a meeting this Saturday morning about how to get the word out via fliers, etc.

PLEASE, if you can help in any way, shape, etc. at all -- even if you can't come to the meeting, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! We'll have a meeting time set soon after I hear back from those that can make it -- probably either 9am or 10am.

Thanks!
