Interoperability statement 'Orwellian'
--------------------------------------
"Con Zymaris, chief executive officer of Cybersource, said a statement
that for anyone to claim that "proprietary, locked-in Windows is more
interoperable than open, standards-oriented Linux" ranked with
statements like "Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is Strength" found in
the Orwell classic 1984."
...
"Zymaris cited the case of OpenOffice.org and Mozilla Firefox, both of
which were available on multiple platforms, allowing interoperability
beyond the realm of a single vendor. Both programs were also standards
compliant, adhering to the OASIS (Organisation for the Advancement of
Structured Information Standards) draft standards for XML document
formats (OpenOffice.org) and the modern W3C HTML and CSS specifications
(Firefox)."
