OpenOffice delayed thanks to lack of developers
-----------------------------------------------
"OpenOffice's development is being hampered by a lack of independent
contributors, its project leaders have warned the open-source
community.

It may be touted as a viable alternative to Microsoft Office, but its
pace of development and adoption of new features is being stifled by a
"monolithic" code base and a developer community still largely
controlled by Sun Microsystems, it is claimed.

Project contributors speaking at the annual OpenOffice.org conference
in Australia this week raised a number of worrying issues. Developer
Ken Foskey said the biggest problem was a lack of developers and a code
base that is "just too big"."
