I believe a link and a small description placed in the sidebar
should suffice to make visitors aware of other open source
offerings. As a reference, in the past when mozilla links was a
newsletter rather than a blog, it was crosspromoted with OOo
newsletter (https://mail.mozilla.org/pipermail/newsletter/
2005/000028.html, bottom). Hope we can take on this change once again.
