I'm sure (now that Slashdot have covered this again) you know that the Birmingham City Council (that's Birmingham UK, not Birmingham, AL) trial of open source software including Open Office.org and Firefox is actually a big SUCCESS,
rather than the reports earlier that the Council were cancelling their open source project (link from Open Office.org home page http://www.zdnet.co.uk/talkback/0,1000001161,39284758-20082958o,00.htm ) See http://www.techworld.com/opsys/news/index.cfm?newsid=7459 I can't find anything as yet on the www.Birmingham.gov.uk <http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/> site as yet, but probably tomorrow. Birmingham City Council is the largest "local authority" (Council; Local Government body) in England and probably in Europe, so this a big step for us Birmingham residents and open source aficionados.
