I just discovered the quality of OO with regard to changing a scanned tif document to PDF. Most of the programs that are free produce a document that is as large or larger than the original as far as file size and there is no way to combine serveral pages.
With Writer I can put the scanned images with paper breaks and export the multiple page document to PDF. The result is a professional looking document that is way smaller than the scanned image. Somewhere I missed this but it is a great feature.
