For the list, I have not yet tried to use the iBook as a gateway. I was so excited last night from trying the initial steps, I just went to bed with a smile on my face. I had LOTS of other things I should have been doing, but those late night coding sessions never quite leave you, even if you no longer do code. I may give it a whirl tonight, but I suspect it will involve wiring the iBook to the cable modem. I don't care as long as it works.
Dave BTW, the site for the driver is: http://www.ff.iij4u.or.jp/~ngc/eng/newtwave.htm >hi dave, > >that is so cool that you got the newton/wavelan working :) >question: can you use your ibook as an internet gateway and surf the net on >the newton without wires? >and does the developer have a web site? > >i also trashed my newton's LCD by jumping out of bed and landing on it :P > >thanks >-iain > > > >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Dave Fleishman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: "NewtonList" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 11:48 AM >Subject: WaveLAN success > > >Well, I must admit, whoever that developer in Japan is, THANK YOU. >It was not without some work last night, but I was finally able to >connect my nearly dead Newt (please recall my recent posts about the >cracked LCD--it still works, by gosh!) to my iBook WITHOUT ANY WIRES. >I used NCU on the iBook, and my WaveLAN (actually an Orinoco Silver) >card in the Newt.
