I have a 3rd- party keyboard that was given to me because it was broken. 
I unscrewed the case and it turned out that one of the wires coming off 
the flexible serial connector had come loose, probably from the stress 
and flexing at that point. I resoldered it and it's been working 
perfectly for several years.
