This has been linked to both hardware and software. On the hardware side I
have cleaned the connections on the mini ribbon cable from the digitizer
where it plugs into the main logic board. Cleaning was with a special
glass-fiber brush - cannot remember where I got it from. After cleaning, I
treated the connections with DeOxit by Caig Laboratories. Unit is still
'jaggies' free.

I remember several discussions surrounding software as the (possible)
culprit, but cannot recall details at the moment.

Have you tried doing a brain-wipe on this unit (do a full backup, hard reset
with data erasure, full restore) ?
