I am not sure, but sometimes the HW support contract might include some
operating system support (I do not know details, this is out of my knowledge),
but this probably does not cover Solaris 8.

If this is the case and you do not have the support contract then you are
probably out of luck. The Solaris 8 is really too old. Of course, you can buy
the support contract but it seems it is expensive a bit:

Pricing and Availability

The Solaris 8 Vintage Patch Service may be purchased now through March 31,
2012. Contact your local Sun sales representative or Sun authorized partner for
pricing information.

Annual pricing is based on the maximum number of sockets (or processors) per
system. Multiple cores per socket count as one socket. Customers must meet a
minimum annual price of $24,000. The minimum term for the service is one year.

There might be a better way to ask your "Some application" vendor to add
support to Solaris 10 to the application and upgrade your OS.

Best regards.
