As a followup: - It is impractical for us to go to NFSv4 because our NFS clients do not support it AND v4 requires kerberos which is also a barrier for our clients. - We are pulling our Sun thumper out of production and have purchased at least one Kingstar with RHEL6 installed. RHEL6 has both LDAP and the --manage-gids option for rpc.mountd. - Our thumper will become our test data server. We will buy no more.
