Yes, rpcbind is necessary for showmount to work since it needs to know how to 
find mountd which does not have a well known port number.



I’m a bit surprised Ganesha came up without rpcbind running though.

I think it was because rpcbind was not running.  I need to have rpcbind running 
in order for showmount to work, correct?

I am using the VFS FSAL.  I can mount what I have exported in my conf file.



However when I do a showmount, I get a connection refused.



Ganesha is indeed running because if I mount the export, it gets mounted fine.
