Hi Robin,

The 'Use of uninitialized value' error is caused by the 'Too many open
files' error. I will look into adjusting the patch to give a clearer error.

The solution for the problem with the amount of processes spawned is
more complicated. Even without the patch you'll have this problem. NfSen
then just takes longer to create the same amount of processes. The
periodic updates phase has no check in it to make sure the last periodic
update has finished. You could add such a check, but then you would have
to decide if you want to:
- - break of the running update in favor of the new one. In which case you
lose data
- - drop the new update. In this case you also lose data.
- - Hold the new update until the old one is finished. But then you will
have the same problem as they will just be queuing up.

The scenario where the old update is stopped and the scenario where the
new update is dropped both give the possibility to show an warning
message without making nfsen hog up all the resources in the system.
Which would have my preference. I think it might be a good idea to
discuss this with Peter.
