Hello everyone.

We have an internal SVN here for nfdump and nfsen development. I have
now written a script to take regular snap shots of this and commit it to
sf.net's SVN. You will see revisions labelled something like 'Automatic
Snapshot 2008-12-01'.

Please note that these are taken regardless of the state of nfdump or
nfsen. As sush are likely to be uninstallable (nfsen/trunk is currently
uninstallable, nfdump/trunk will probably install).

Peter or I may from time to time manually commit snapshots that you can
play with, or let you know which revisions are runnable. In any case
please consider anything from svn trunk to be highly experimental.

One thing you will see, which maybe of interest to package maintainers,
is both nfdump and nfsen have new installers.

nfdump now uses automake to build its Makefile.in files. So things like
DEST install and out of source tree builds are now trivially possible.

nfsen now uses the Module::Build installer instead of install.pl
I will say something more about installing nfsen when there is a version
of nfsen that can be played with.

What am I currently doing? Well as Peter said I'm working towards ACL
support in nfsen, so for that I have been preparing the way. nfsen/trunk
is currently unusable because I am cutting up Profile.pm separating the
code for Communication, Profiles and Channels into their own modules.
(After that is done I have to update the rest of nfsen to the new
interface for Profiles).

The new profiles will be DB based instead of the old profile.dat files
in nfsen 1.3. NfSen has a cleaner module name space as part of the
Module::Build work. Module compatibility with 1.3 and upgrades from 1.3
will be supported.

Regards

Thorben
