I understand why it might not be ideal from an interface point of view, we're 
using it to monitor for some very specific conditions which 5 minute samples 
really don't work well with.

Hi David,

It's not really recommended. At the memonet, the interval is hard coded at 
several places, which of course could be fixed.
However, the RRD layout is set with 5min slots in mind, which limits the time 
with a finer resolution.
Furthermore, the interval needs to be long enough to run all potential plugins.
I can make this time configurable in the next update release, but use it at 
your own risk.
